Frequently Asked Questions
Is 4 yards big enough for a kitchen refit?
Yes — a 4 yard skip holds 35-45 bin bags and is the ideal size for most kitchen refits. It will comfortably take kitchen units (base and wall), a sink, worktops, tiles, flooring and general fitout waste. If you are also clearing a bathroom or extra rooms at the same time, consider a 6 yard skip.
Do I need a permit for a 4 yard skip?
If the skip sits entirely on your private driveway or property, no permit is needed. A permit is only required if the skip is placed on a public road or pavement. Permits cost £50–80 and are arranged with the local council — we can handle this for you when you book.
How long can I keep a 4 yard skip?
Our standard hire period is 7 days, which suits most kitchen and bathroom projects. A 14-day option is available at a small surcharge. For longer hires, call us — we are flexible around project timelines.
What can't I put in a 4 yard skip?
Prohibited items across all our skips: asbestos, tyres, paint cans (unless dry), batteries, fridges/freezers, electrical items (WEEE), fluorescent tubes and hazardous waste. Kitchen appliances (ovens, hobs) are generally accepted — contact us if unsure about a specific item.
