Frequently Asked Questions
Is 8 yards big enough for a full house clearance?
Yes — the 8 yard skip is our most popular size for a reason. Holding 60-80 bin bags, it handles a complete 2–3 bedroom house clearance including loft, garage and garden waste. For larger properties (4+ beds) or if you have heavy rubble on top of household waste, a 10 or 12 yard skip may be more appropriate.
Do I need a permit for an 8 yard skip?
If the skip is placed on your private driveway, no permit is required. For public road placement, a permit costs £50–80. At 3.5m long, an 8 yard skip usually fits on most standard driveways — our team can advise on positioning when you book.
How long can I keep an 8 yard skip?
Standard hire is 7 days, which is plenty for most house clearances and renovations. Extended 14-day hire is available. For complex projects that run longer, contact us and we will work out a flexible arrangement.
What can't I put in an 8 yard skip?
Prohibited across all our skips: asbestos, tyres, paint (unless dry and solidified), batteries, fridges/freezers, WEEE electrical waste, fluorescent tubes and clinical/hazardous waste. Most renovation and household waste is accepted, including plasterboard, timber, bricks, tiles, carpets and general household goods.
